I have a Vostro 400 desktop and it's running slow.
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU. E6550 @ 2.33 GHz
32-bit Windows 7
3.00 GB memory currently installed, as I did a bit of an upgrade a few years ago.
a techie had a look inside and advised me to replace the 2 x 500MB cards with 2 x 2GB cards, giving me a total of 6GB RAM.
But I see the "official" limit is 4GB and that a 32-bit system will "see" about 3.5.
So my question is; how much can I actually improve the speed of this machine? If in practice I increase from 3.0 to 3.5, will performance be noticeably better? Can I do what I was advised and will 6GB actually perform better than "4"?
