My Vostro 1720 is now 5 years old. It has had 1 replacement hard drive (crashed) and all the fluff cleaned out. It's the best machine I have ever had.
Please can I have some guidance as to whether I should upgrade the existing machine or replace with a later model.

Intel core duo CPU P8700@2.53GHz, 4GB 800 MHz DDR2 Dual Channel Ram, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS, 17" Widescreen WXGA+(1,440 x 900), HD 320GB (used 92GB) Serial ATA FFS (7,200 RPM), Wireless 802.11 a/g/DraftN mini card.
Used for internet browsing extensively, send/receive emails, some work on photos (XN View), MicroSoft Money99, Above & Beyond 2001. Used as a desk top replacement, connected to modem with cable (rest of the family use wireless)
Money99 has 20 years of my money records and A&B similarly a 20 year diary record, time management and alerts.
I am looking at Crucial BX100 512GB, Windows 10, a new modem (802.11ac).
I would welcome comments, no matter how expensive, to upgrade the existing laptop hardware and software.
I use a Nokia 1100, I don't do Twitter, Facebook or games.
