This guide will work for all Windows 7 OEM Licenses (including non-Dell) and all Windows 7 Retail Licenses.

Select Dell Skylake Systems also have the Dell Windows 7 Reinstallation Pro Skylake Media Refresh January 2016 .iso.

Step 1: Microsoft only provide Windows 7 SP1 November 2010 Media Refresh Installation Media.

Because Microsoft's website doesn't work as well as it should this can be obtained direct from Microsoft server's using Jan Krohn's Windows .iso Download Tool which generates direct download links from Microsoft's Servers:

More details including English .iso checksums may be found in the written guide Download a Windows 7 2011 Commercial OEM or Retail .iso.

Step 2: Slipstream PSP2, IE11, NVMe, Storage Controllers and USB 3.0 Support to Make Windows 7 PSP2 April 2016 Media Refresh Installation Media

Note Microsoft released KB3125574 as "The Convenience Rollup for Service Pack 1 until April 2016". Since Service Pack 1 was released in February 2011 this "Convenience Rollup" contains over 5 Years of Updates. By definition this is a Service Pack so I will call it PSP2 the pseudo Service Pack 2.

It took a while to do this but I have created a slipstream script to bring Windows Installation Media up to date which is necessary to install on newer 2012-2016 hardware.

Written Instructions (in more depth) Slipstreaming the Convenience Rollup, IE11, NVMe, Intel Storage Controller and USB 3.0 Drivers.

Step 3: Windows 7 Installation in a UEFI BIOS

Windows 7 Installation in a UEFI BIOS is much easier with the up to date installation media.

(Please visit the site to view this video)

Written Instructions Installation of Windows 7 using a UEFI BIOS and Unified Extensive Firmware Interface (UEFI) Settings.

If installing Windows 7 OEM using Retail Installation Media or a Commercial OEM .iso:

1. Install Windows 7 using Retail Installation Media.
2. Select Correct Edition during installation (note you will only get this option if no EI.cfg file is present). If you have a system shipped with Windows 8.1 Pro OEM or Windows 10 Pro OEM. The correct Edition is Windows 7.
3. Uncheck Automatically Activate Windows when I’m Online.
4. Skip Entry of the Product Key.

Step 4: Activate with OEM System Locked Preinstallation

If installing Windows 7 OEM using Retail Installation Media or a Commercial OEM .iso you can activate using OEM SLP.

(Please visit the site to view this video)

OEM SLP activation will only work if you have a SLIC ACPI table and the SLIC version is 2.1.

You need to use the OEM.XrML and slp.bat corresponding to your OEM so the SLIC and SLP match.
You should match the Edition of your Windows 7 COA.

For systems with Windows 8.1 Pro OEM and Windows 10 Pro OEM use the Windows 7 Pro OEM OEM.XrML and slp.bat.

5. Download the OEM SLP Cert and Script Collection for Windows 7 (this collection includes not only Dell and Alienware but also HP, Compaq, Lenovo, IBM, Samsung, Sony, ASUS, Acer, Gateway, Packard, Fujitsu, MSI and Toshiba).
6. To apply OEM SLP, select your OEM from the list of folders, select your Windows 7 OEM Edition and copy the OEM folder to C:\
7. Open the OEM folder, right click slp.bat and select "run as administrator".
8. Click ok when prompted two times. Press any key to continue/exit when prompted.
9. Go to start, right click computer and then select properties. Windows 7 should be activated. The Product ID should contain OEM-899. If activation doesn't work you can install RWEverything to check that you have a SLIC ACPI tab that is version 2.1. If you do not have a SLIC tab of version 2.1 Product Activation will fail using this method.
