I HAD to sign up here just to ask one question. Ridiculous.
I have a laptop that was acquired during the liquidation of a business. Dell Latitude E5440.
I formatted with the windows 7 disc I had from my pc. Yes, I realize this is where I made the mistake.
So I get on the internet to look for solutions. I can't describe what is happening except nothing. I saw something about legacy booting or whatever. Tried it. Got Windows 7 to work.
Great. End of my problems? Not even close. No internet connection. Not wired or wireless. I plugged in the back direct from modem and nothing. Didn't even register. Tried installing a Netgear USB wireless adapter. Installed fine. But the USB aren't recognizing it. BUT the USB memory stick I have WAS recognized. Yes, I installed the Netgear adapter correctly. Because I use it on my OTHER Dell laptop that somehow lost it's wireless connection too. On it's own. Network card isn't even detected.
Anyway, I come to the Dell drivers page. Enter my product code or whatever...taken to the drivers. I pick the network drivers. Select them all to download.
BUT when I try to download them I am told I have to run the Dell System Detect or whatever. Fine, only I don't need to drivers for the laptop I'm on.
SO, my question is this: How am I supposed to download the drivers to burn on a CD to use on the other laptop? I can't get it online to run the Dell System Detect or whatever.
I have ALWAYS used Dell. Making music and everything. I have always found the patience to deal with the nonstop problems I've had over the years. One more problem that I can't directly sort out on my own, you know since there is no one to call for help, I will take money to Apple. I don't use Dell because they are cheap. They are easily customization. But I've had it.
Can I please get a simple, direct answer as to how I am supposed to install drivers on a laptop that will NOT connect to the internet. A DELL laptop Latitude E5440
Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.
