My original hard drive failed on this desktop (a little over 2 years old) and I bought a new drive to replace it, When I run my System Restore discs (3) which a created not long after I purchase the pc I get Error code 0X4001100200001005 at 70% ever time for 4 attempts. I read a blog that suggests that you cannot restore windows 7 unless you purchase the drive from Dell. Surely this is not the case. IF it is I will never buy another Dell that won't allow me to add non-dell hardware. I typed the Windows 7 product key in at Microsoft and the message says this product was pre-installed by the manufacturer and to contact them. I have tried Dell and all I get is the warranty has expired. I paid for a copy of Windows and did what I was directed to do for a system restore. Shouldn't be able to re-load my copy of Windows on the same pc?
