I have bought a refurbished Dell Optiplex 760 with 4GB Ram, and a processor Intel 2 duo cpu 3GHz
It freezes up sometimes and really does not work well, what could I do to upgrade this for better speed and less freezing issues?

I have the Dell xps 8300 [Amin Note: Service Tag Edited per TOU policy] and I am trying to upgrade from 2gbx4 sticks to 4gbx4 sticks ram. I have tried two different 16gb sets from crucial and corsair, last set Corsair XMS3 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz C9 Memory Kit (CMX16GX3M4A1333C9), the crucial set was 1666MHz. In each case my pc posts and the 16gb ram is recognized and diagnostics ran all hardware etc passed; however, windows starts to boot but freezes when the users icons show on the desktop and there was a buzzing sound from my speakers. I had to put the old ram back and do a system restore to get everything back to normal. The system repair would freeze when tried with the new ram. Both crucial and corsair web sites listed these rams as compatible and I have seen post by many xps8300 users, some with success orthers with this problem but I have not found any solutions. Only hint by one person suggested that this new ram is not the same as the old ram even though it has the same specs? Where can I get the correct older ram?
Does a Dell Dimension B110 desktop have the proper connectors to add an internal Blu-ray drive?

Sorry just wanted to ask which graphics card (latest) I could purchase which would be suitable for the Dell XPS Studio 7100? I know it's little dated computer but I would really appreciate if someone could help me. Also, I'm not too sure how to take my current graphics card out of the motherboard. It seems to be stuck? what else would i need to change if I change the graphics card? Will this cause any problems to the PC?

Cannot do recovery for Windows 8.1 keeps asking for key code. My 3yo grandson jammed 2 disc into optical drive of my X51 R2 and disc stuck inside. Took to Geek Squad (never again). They repaired optical drive after shipping it to another state for repair. But when it was returned the Windows 8.1 OS was wiped out. Not only that but they ruined my video card. I bought another video card but now the 8.1 OS keeps asking for a key code so now I am not able to recover Windows 8.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

52 minutes on the phone with some guy in Pakistan that I couldn't understand just to get an install disk for a machine that crashed 3 DAYS after the warranty expired. Still didn't get it. After 52 minutes, he said "another 20 minutes to wait for system to finish updating". Thanks Dell, I didn't need that hour of air time for NOTHING. Beyond p.o.'d.
Good morning. New here, pretty good with DIY as long as I have good internet friends to help! Our laptop stopped booting up, got caught in the Repairing PC loop. Ran Dell diagnostics and came up with error code 0142 validation 94589. Hard drive failure. I booted up with Linux Lime to see if I could possibly move some of the files I would like saved but I couldn't figure out how to do it; when I tried to open what I assumed are the files on the hard drive I got linux error "Unable to mount OS" .
The last time I backed up my photos, videos, and music was about 3 months ago, so it isn't the end of the world if I lose a few months of files
I am now down to what I think are two choices: replace the hard drive myself and re-install windows; or bring to a computer repair place to see if they can do any more than I have been able to do (retrieve the photos, files, etc)
1) Based on what I have said above, is there any chance a repair place will retrieve my files from the failed hard drive?
2) if I replace the hard drive myself, do I need to pay for Windows 10 even though I had it already on my failed hard drive? If so, how?

I just reinstalled XP on my laptop. In the Device Manager I have two yellow question marks by Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus and Video Controller. Could anyone tell me which Drivers to download. I have downloaded and installed several and have had no success.

I have an inspiron 15 which has the above problem. Took it to the shop where I bought it a few times but problem persists. I have to press power button for a few seconds for them to go off. Can someone help pls?
My hard drive in my xps m1530 has blown for the second time now. The first time I had a repair shop replace it. I didn't want to do that again.
So I went to my wife's dell studio. Her charging port was broken so it couldn't charge. So I swapped the hard drive from hers to mine.
Now I'm missing some drivers and every driver I've tried from the Dell site hasn't worked. It has Vista Home installed as the OS. The following are the missing drivers:
There are 3 Base System Devices, Biometric Coprocessor, Ethernet Controller, and Network controller. I have a flash drive I've been using to try to get the proper drivers installed. So far non have worked
What have I done wrong? Any ideas of finding the drivers, or solving the problem. Everything works fine but I have no Network or Internet access. Help please!!!!!!!!
My fathers hard drive *** out on his inspiron 1545. I purchased him a crucial bx100 250gb ssd to replace it. It hasn't come in yet but I was wondering what steps I need to complete to get his laptop set up? He had mentioned that when he first set up the computer it made him create some kind of backup disks. Is that what I will use or do I need the dell disks that came with the laptop? Thanks.

I just reinstalled OS on this laptop and I ran through the Dell website to auto-detect drivers that need to be updated.
Once finished, I still have this listed under device manager and network controller is not found. Can you provide the correct Network Controller?

I recently had to reinstall Windows 7 on my laptop and am trying to get all of the necessary drivers installed. I am trying to get the network driver installed, but need to install the chipset driver first, apparently.
Can someone please point me in the direction of which chipset driver and in what order I need to install the drivers?

Probably an old question but I can find an answer to it. Just had a new hub (British...BT Hub 5) and if the internet drops the computer does not 'see' the router until I reset the router but it sees a lot of my neighbour's .

I have a Dell Inspiron 1012 Mini laptop. I recently changed the password to my laptop, and didn't write it down, now I don't remember it and I have no chance of ever remembering the password. I would like to do a factory reset on my laptop, I've been told I can do so by hitting the F8 key and doing a system repair. After doing that, it told me I needed to log in to do a factory reset. I've tried going into the advanced options and such and I can't reset it, I can't crack the password, and I can't put in a reset disk because there is no disk drive on my laptop. Any suggestions? I've tried most things. I don't want to go to a store to do anything if at all possible, I'd like to try and fix it myself.
I was looking at the order that the drivers are installed for Inspiron 1545 laptop, first on the list is Dell system software or system utilities. I then went to the the support page where all the drivers were listed. My question is the system utilities that the list mentions, and the diagnostic software that is in the list of drivers, are they the same, or am I missing something. If they are not the same where do I find the system utilities software that I can download.
